Sunscreen, A Must Have for Your Skincare

Okay if you know me then you know my obsession with avoiding the sun. I’m talking about always wearing SPF 30, always having sunglasses and a hat, and always doing what I can to block out the sun. so besides being overdramatic let’s talk about why these little obsession are essential for people to get educated on and even follow.

This is not an “I hate the sun” post okay, it’s a “know the effects of the sun”. Listen one of my favorite things to do is just to simply be under the sun, just makes me feel good but there is a way to do it. You know how everyone is always telling you how important sunscreen is, well they are not lying love. If you’re like how I used to be I would always say “yes I know” but never actually used sunscreen unless I was at the beach or going to be under the sun for a long amount of time. It was such a terrible habit of mine to not put any sunscreen on every day. You really should be wearing sunscreen every day no matter where you are or what you’re doing.

Sun exposer is known to speed up the aging process. It causes wrinkles and dark spots while also worsening acne scars making it harder to get rid of, which already seem nearly impossible. Plus sun exposer can cause inflammation and aggravation to the skin. Finally, the most known danger of sun exposer is the possibility of causing cancer. I know it all sounds scary but luckily the daily use of sunscreen can help prevent all of this.

There are a lot of different kinds of sunscreens but not all of them work the same. First of there are two major groups of sunscreen: chemical and mineral. I always prefer mineral sunscreens for several reasons. First off mineral sunscreen especially Zinc has better sun exposer coverage while being gentle on your skin. Because mineral sunscreen simply lays on top of the skin it doesn’t clog your pores as much as chemical sunscreen. It’s also a lot easier to clean off your skin which helps you achieve a cleaner base.

Mineral sunscreen is also the only FDA approved sunscreen that is good for your skin and the environment. We love any chance to maintain healthy skin and a chance to help out the coral reefs!! Plus mineral sunscreen begins to protect your skin as soon as it’s applied. Chemical sunscreen tends to take 10-15 minutes until it begins blocking UV rays and radiation.

If your thinking about getting a mineral-based sunscreen I got a few recommendations for you to make your life a bit easier. The kind I am currently using is <a href="http://<a href="http://”>Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen. What I love about this one is that it’s not greasy, and works so well with other products and underneath makeup. I find that it does give a bit of a glowy look with your makeup so if you like that this is definitely for you. I also love Bare Republic Tinted Mineral Face Sunscreen with SPF 30. This one is great if you do not want to wear makeup, think about a BB cream style product. I feel like this is amazing for a beach vacation. Protecting your skin while having that natural no-makeup look. Just add some mascara and you’re set. Finally, <a href="http://<a href="http://”>Sun Bum Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF 30 works amazing as well. This brand has so many different options to fit your specific needs and can easily be found. I love that they have travel sizes and even a lip balm that’s protects your lips too!

Wear sunscreen is one of the most important steps in my skincare routine which is while I felt like I needed a whole post to obsess over it. Trust me, love, this is a little addition you need to begin using.

Let’s Talk About Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is something that has been getting more popular recently and I am obsessed okay. If you don’t know what Dermaplaning is it’s basically an exfoliating and shaving procedure. It’s usually done with a scalpel-like shaver.

For a little while, I was a bit hesitant on trying out Dermaplaning because I was scared to cut my face but it turned out to be a lot simpler than expected.

There are several benefits that come from Dermaplaning. First off Dermaplaning shaves off the fine hairs on your skin which gives you a smooth baby-like feel while preventing the accumulation of dirt and oil. These little fine hairs are one of the reasons that dirt and oil stays on your skin. By removing all fine hairs on your skin, you will also shave off all the dirt and oil and preventing future build-up. This is why its also so great for acne and minimizing pores.

Like I mentioned before Dermaplaning exfoliated your skin and it does in a major way. When I tried Dermaplaning for the first time I was surprised to see how much dead skin was easily scraped off. It was better than any other exfoliating method that I have tried. Plus exfoliating is great for anti-aging as it helps with the production of collagen which helps keep us looking young. The exfoliation from this is so good that it instantly gives you a glowy look which we all love.

One of the most common benefits I heard about Dermaplaning was how great your makeup looks on. It gives you a smoother surface for your makeup, giving you a flawless and natural look. It’s great for preventing your makeup from looking too thick and gives it a smoother surface for better blending. Nothing is worse than having uneven patches of makeup on your skin, not cute.

So obviously the benefits are great and it’s a must-add to your skincare routine. Plus its so easy to DIY at home, which I love. Yes, you can go get this done by a professional but doing it at home is just as beneficial. To get started you want to make sure that your face is clean and DRY! Having your skin dry with nothing on it will help you get the most from the exfoliation and help get more dead skin off with your thin hairs. Don’t worry, it won’t hurt, shaving dry will simply get a lot more done. Trust me the difference is huge and essential.

Then with small strokes, gently grace your skin with the blade going the same direction all over your face. I usually start at the side of the face and work towards the middle. Make sure not to overdo it because you want to make sure not to over-exfoliate. You will be able to see all of the dead skin coming off and it is so satisfying. Once you are done just proceed with your normal skincare routine and moisturizer.

There are a lot of Dermaplaning razors to choose from but the ones I use are these from amazon. They work amazingly and I love the cute colors. Also, the price is less than $5.00, how great is that? There are a lot of different Dermaplaning razors to choose from but trust me not all of them work that well. Some will only glide over the skin and not give you that exfoliation that we want to get.

You guys Dermaplaning is amazing and an essential in my skincare routine. If you guys decide to try it out let me know! Just remember to be gentle, and only do it a around 2 or 3 times a week, depending on how sensitive your skin is. Also it is KEY to shave with a dry clean skin! It makes all the difference and will give you a killer glow. Okay, I wish you all smooth flawless skin.

Why I’m Obsessed With Adding Salt To My Water

I love an easy health hack and one of my current favorites is saltwater.

It’s simple, easy, healthy and efficient. To get even more specific we are talking about pink Himalayan Sea salt, not your standard table salt. Himalayan sea salt has so many benefits and really should be the type of salt that you use for everything, especially for cooking. The main difference between the two types of salts is that Himalayan salt has over 84 traces of minerals while traditional table salt is over 97% sodium which can cause major problems when it comes to your health if consumed too much. Here is a great options for Himalayan Sea Salt.

When it comes to putting it into your water the benefits continue. First off one of the reasons it originally got me to start adding salt into my water was how adding just a bit of the pink salt into your water helps you to consume more electrolytes. Pink salt has a ton of minerals aka electrolytes and helps your body stay hydrated. How it works is that when the pink salt dissolves in water the negative ions in the water combine with the positive ions of the salt therefor becoming electrolytes. A quick tip is to add some pink salt into your water bottle for the gym to help stay hydrated before, during and after your workout.

So electrolytes not only keep you hydrated but they’re essential for maintaining proper body function. When you stay hydrated your body can properly send signals from one cell to another. When this happened it helps the kidneys in eliminating wastes and toxins. Listen there are so many products out there charging you over $50.00 to detox your body so finding a great natural product under $10.00 that you can easily get access too and use is amazing.

One of my favorite benefits is what it has done for my skin. I love being able to be able to see results and feeling the benefits when I try something new and this always delivers amazing results. Himalayan salt has zinc, iodine, and sulfur all being amazing for your skin. To break it down, zinc helps repair tissue and prevents acne. Iodine and chromium helps with preventing bacteria and infection. Finally, sulfur is known to help keep your skin clean and smooth. Here a tip, drinking salt water will help your skin within but using it to wash your face will help as well. What I will sometimes do is I leave about one to two tablespoons of the Himalayan salt with water in a cup overnight. Then the next day when I wash my face I will use the saltwater to cleanse my face. It feels fresh but it can be drying to some at times so make sure to follow with a heavy moisturizing routine. I often use both a moisturizer and an oil just to make sure my skin is extra hydrated.

Saltwater also helps when it comes to digestion. By helping stimulate hydrochloric acid and certain enzymes that help your body break down foods and protein. By having it help the digestive enzyme it also helps the liver perform the necessary digestive functions.

Himalayan salt in my water has been a game-changer for me, like you need to be a part of this little hack.

My Current Skincare Favorites

Okay, I have had a JOURNEY to get to the point of having clear smooth skin. Your girl is rocking the best skin she has ever had, not perfect but I am so happy for where I am at. I feel like I need to have a whole before and after photo situation going on, I just need to find some photos!!

I have made a list of my current favorite products and the best part is that all of them are so affordable and WORK. Trust me I have tried so many different products that seemed to do no effect, these babies are the real deal. You will find the links to all of the products by clicking the words in BOLD if you’re interested in trying them out.

Like I said, I love these products and have been using them for quite some time so I know they work. I will never recommend a product that I do not personally find it to do what it is supposed to do. Hopefully you guys find thee products to be as helpful as they are to me!!

  • Garnier SkinActive Argan Nut Face Scrub with Vitamin C
    • I bought this for my sister first since she wanted a new face wash. The thing that drew me into buying this one was the fact that it has vitamin C and how it helps give you a more even brighter skin tone. As soon as my sister started using it I was sold on how good it works. Her skin was glowing like never before and it looked so smooth and flawless, think snap chat filter in real life. It was within days her skin changed for the better and as soon as I started to use as well, my skin changed as well. I also learned that it also helps refine pores as it washes away dirt, oil, and makeup. Also according to the website argan nut helps to seal moisture in the skin while helping maintain a healthy skin oil balance. This cleanser also has some vitamin e in it which helps with acne scars and keeping it moisturizes. Another great thing it that the exfoliation is super gentle making it okay to use every day without causing any type of damage.

  • Thayer Witch Hazel Alcohol-Free Toner
    • This toner’s quality is amazing while being affordable. I recommend using it as a leave on base, this way your skin absorbs all of the benefits. This toner is amazing for shrinking pores and it helps soothe your skin while reducing inflammation and redness. This is a lifesaver after I completely regret messing with a breakout, it’s almost like I never made the mistake!! Plus the fact that it doesn’t have alcohol means that it won’t dry your skin out.

Using an acid-based product has been a game-changer for me when it comes to deep pore cleaning and getting rid of those annoying little bumps that seem to never leave. I have three different acid-based products that have be great and they are all from my favorite affordable skincare brand, The Ordinary.

  • Salicylic Acid 2% Solution
    • Salicylic Acid is a well-known product for getting rid of acne and great for exfoliating your skin. One of my favorite things about this product is that it’s gentle and it works well.
  • Mandelic Acid 10% + HA
    • Another great acid that’s a bit stronger than the salicylic acid but still gentle. According to the ordinary website, this product penetrates the skin a bit slower than other acids which help with gentle exfoliation. It also states that this product works for all skin types including most sensitive skin types, so definitely worth trying out!
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid 5%
    • This is the strongest acid-based product out of all three of these. It does cause a bit of sting in the beginning so definitely proceed with caution. What I love about this one is that it helps keep my skin look extra smooth, bright, and soft. When I use this product at night I wake up with this really great glow, love it. It has a very height potent of antioxidants, which makes this all possible. I use this product a max of two times a week but currently use it every other week. I do have certain areas of my skin where it’s dry easily which is why I am careful of not overdoing it with this product

All three are great and I would recommend all of them as a part of your nighttime routine. Trust me, you skin will have an extra glow when you wakeup. These three babies are powerful and you do not want to get too much sun exposer when using them. Always wear sunscreen, as you should anyways!!

  • Tree of Life Vitamin C
    • If you haven’t noticed, vitamin c is one of my favorites for skincare. This serum is one I use when I am in a rush and I don’t use my other vitamin c product 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder that will be mentioned down below. This one makes your skin soft, gives it a glow and helps you get rid of dark spots. It’s quick-absorbing and gives your skin a bit of a gloss. It helps give your makeup an extra natural glow look. It has a high concentration level and works amazing.
  • Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
    • If you got problems with pores, blemishes, oiliness or even congestion this one it the one for you! It is great for all skin types, dry, oily, combination, dry, or sensitive. I find it to work extremely well while being gentle on your skin. How it works is that the niacinamide helps with blemishes and clogged pores white the zinc helps balance all other visible aspects. Once again The Ordinary killed it with this product while being super affordable. Also one thing I love about this brand is that The Ordinary does NOT contain parables, sulfates, most of them are vegan and cruelty-free, some being oil-free and more.

I love, love, love a good oil product. When I’m feeling like doing a simple skincare routine I always reach for an oil-based product and a moisturizer. These three are the oils my go-to and they’re used for different reasons.

  • Olive Oil
    • Oil is often something most people don’t think of using as apart of their skincare routine because they’re scared it will clog your pores. For me and the rest of my family, this is completely not the case. If anything it has been a huge factor in helping me clear up my skin. It has so many great benefits like anti-aging, high vitamin content, anti-bacterial and of course extremely moisturizing. At first, I was a bit worried that it would cause my skin to get oily but it has helped my skin keep a healthy oil level. Now before you go to your local grocery store and pick out the first olive oil you use there are some very necessary specifics. The olive oil you pick out needs to be cold-pressed, unrefined extra virgin and preferably organic. The reason is that when no heat is applied during the process of making the oil it allows the oil to contain the highest concentration of the benefits olive oil has to offer. Plus it also means that it does not contain any preservatives or any other additives which could be harmful. Lucky finding olive oil that fits the criteria is quite easy, whether through Amazon, thrive market, or your local health food store.
  • JASON Vitamin E 45,000 IU Skin Oil, Maximum Strength
    • Okay, this oil has given me such soft skin plus it’s so great for helping you get rid of acne scars! Seeing the results of getting rid of acne scars can take some time but trust me it works. I love to wear this right before I go to bed because I wake up with moisturized skin with an extra glow.

Now here’s the twist, usually its recommended to put on your moisturizing cream products and then the oils based products just because oil is usually a heavier product. I like to do the opposite, put on my oil products and then my moisturizer. I feel like when I do this it keeps all of my products in place allowing there to be optimal absorption of the products. When it comes to skincare I want nothing to go to waste and I feel like this method works so well.

my skin goes through these cycles of dryness if I don’t find the right moisturizer. It can’t be too thick because it gets too oily. If its too light, my skin gets too dry and flaky. I tried a ton of different ones I found two that are both moisturizing while not feeling too heavy.

  • St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Facial Moisturizer
    • This one was a lifesaver for me. I found this one when I was dealing with dry flakey skin and this one helps me so quick. This one is super light that it surprised me how much it actually moisturizes my skin. The collagen is such a great touch to keep your skin looking young as well. The price is amazing because you get such a large amount. This one is my favorite and my constant go to.
  • Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
    • This moisturizer is amazing like there is no other way to put it. It is so moisturizing because of the hyaluronic acid so it keeps your skin soft and hydrated without feeling too heavy or oily. I love that it helps me with any type of dry patches and helps me just maintain a perfect balance of hydration. Trust me a little goes a long way so if you decided to try it out start with a small amount!

100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder:

The name sounds like some type of complicated product but its just powdered vitamin c! Unlike other vitamin c products having the state of the product in powder form allows it to have the most direct exposure of extremely high concentration of vitamin c topically. Vitamin c is a great antioxidant that brightens your skin, evens out tones and reduces signs of aging. A killer product that gets you results, especially one with this much concentration. To use this product you need to mix it with another product to liquidize and become easy to apply. I like to mix it with my lightest based serum or with my moisturizer. It gives you this pop of a brighter, glowing, healthier skin look immediately and helps you maintain it if used constantly. Now you may feel a slight tingling sensation but it goes away after a few minutes and does not cause any type of irritation. Usually, this sensation goes away after a week or two as your skin becomes adjusted to the tolerance of this highly concentrated vitamin c. a vitamin c product is so great for everyone and this one works amazing for such a great affordable price! I would 100% recommend this baby. The name The name sounds like some type of complicated product but its just powdered vitamin c! My Go-To Online Shopping Stores

Lately, I have stuck to strictly online shopping. Other than the fact that most of my go-to stores are online-only, going to a crowded mall and spending way to much time there is annoying. So if you’re like me, I thought that you might want to know a few of my favorites stores to shop online at.

  • ZARA
    • Whether it’s for a night out, work, or a casual chic look, this place has got you covered. Zara has great prices and the quality is great too, it is the perfect combo. The only downside is that they tend to only have sales two times a year so if you’re not wanting to buy at full price there might be a bit of a wait. The wait is completely worth it, especially the sale after Christmas. Although they do not always have sales, they do often have a special price section where there is a slight discount for the items, so make sure to check that out too.
    • If you like ZARA you’re going to like MANGO. The prices tend to be a bit higher but it’s a great place for something with a bit more elegance. They often have similar styles as ZARA but with a slight difference so you have some options. Get 10% off when signing up to their email or wait for one of their sales!
  • NAKD
    • With so many new styles weekly, this is a store that you can shop at daily with so many new options. It has a variety of styles and different brands making it easier to shop for all of them in one place. Keep your eye out on promo codes, they tend to partner up with influencers and they often offer 15% off. Plus NAKD has plenty of sales, special prices, or NAKD personal promo codes. I’m talking about 25% – 30% off so, no need to pay full price.
    • Choosy is unique because all of their clothes are designed based on their follower’s preferences. It’s a great place to find pieces that go along with the current in trend. They’ve got a bit of everything style-wise and price-wise. Plus, when you sign up for their emails you can get 15% off or if you refer a friend both of you get 20% off.
    • So many cute clothes that you’re tempted to add everything in your cart. One thing I love is that you can get free 2-day shipping from the US for all orders over $50.00! So great when you’re doing some last-minute shopping. They high high and low cost items but, they always have a pretty great sale section. Plus, like NAKD they always have promo codes. The codes are either from the brand directly or from influencers they have partnered with. You just have to do a bit of research but it’s worth it if you can save some money. Another little tip that I found is that sometimes shopping through their Australian site instead of the US site or the other way around can save you some money. Both US and Australian websites have almost all of the same clothes but prices can vary. For example, a sweater I wanted to buy was over $40.00 on the US site but it was on sale on the Australian site for a little over $20.00. Another time a skirt I liked was about $25.00 on sale in the US but on the Australian site, it was over $45.00. The only difference is that the Australian website is that you need to spend $70.00 for free express shipping, but still a great deal.

These are the stores that I always go to and tend to always find something. There are other stores that I occasionally visit but these never fail me. So what are your go to online stores? Let me know, I would love to add a few more into my list! K, don’t spend too much on clothes today, or do… you deserve it anyway, right?

The Ivy Lee Method

You may or may not know but I own my own business and have owned it since I was 16. It has been a journey of constantly making mistake, learning, succeeding, and of course a few failures. As cliché as it sounds, it’s been a roller coaster ride but one of the best choices I have ever made. I am not going to get to specific on my business but I own a logistics company and it has been such an educational experience for me. I think that sharing value is something so great with today’s constant ability to share content and maybe being able to share some things I have learned can be of value to someone else.

Starting my own company means that my office is my home and the ability to stay in comfy clothes all day. Even though I have a room that was turned into my office most of the time I end up propped up on my bed with two laptops, three pens, and two notebooks. I hate doing all of my work on a computer. I like writing everything out in my notebook and break it down to show every detail, especially when it comes to all accounting matters. Once everything is clear I move all the information on to my computers and other business programs.

I have several notebooks and each have their unique purpose. Also, there are so many cute affordable notebooks that look so cute in your office. It’s so easy to even find some that match your specific aesthetic & we love that. One of my most important notebooks is my daily goal notebook. So this is essential for me because with constant distractions it can be easy to lose your focus. Having a list of daily goals I need to achieve helps me focus on each item allowing me to get the most out of the day. I seriously notice such a difference when I don’t take some time to write down what needs to get done and get organized. So the key is to write down around 5-6 different tasks to get done. Write them down in order from most important to least important. After each task is completed simply check it off and move onto the next task. I have been doing this for quite a while but recently found out that there is an actual name for doing this and it is called the Ivy Lee Method. The rules are the same; write down your tasks the night before or right in the morning and on the next day start working on them one at a time. If there was anything that you didn’t get to on the list simply move it over to the next day.

This is such a simple thing to do it’s a great way to start your day. If I’m able to find something that helps me take advantage of my time that simple, easy and efficient I am going to do it. Like I mentioned before, get a notebook you love, and some cute colorful pens to make this fun for you.

Stay busy!
