Coconut Oil Pulling

Dental hygiene is a huge part of my daily self-care routine. Is it weird that one of my favorite compliments to get is that I have great teeth? It might be because I was so self-conscious when it came to my teeth before but since Invisalign my teeth are starting to get to where I want them to be.

Besides getting my teeth straightened out, whitening them is a major step in my dental care routine. I used to do some DIY natural whitening that didn’t work and those at-home teeth whitening strips were so pricey and so bad for your teeth too. When I read how whitening strips can strip off your enamel from your teeth I knew that using these products was not for me. As per usual I did some research on natural ways to whiten my teeth and there was a ton but most seemed too complicated. I wanted something accessible and simple, and then I read about the benefits of coconut oil for dental hygiene.

This was perfect because I use coconut oil daily!! I use it to take off my make up and as a body moisturizer, so having something that I already had in my bathroom skincare drawer was easy. It’s important to not use just any coconut oil okay? Like we want to get the most out of it, so make sure to get one that’s cold press and organic. Lucky coconut has blown up in recent years so finding one that’s organic and cold press isn’t too hard.

So when it comes to teeth whitening and general dental hygiene using coconut oil is simple and easy. After you’re done brushing your teeth like you normally would scoop up about a half of a tablespoon and just pop it in your mouth. You want to make sure you have enough to swish around your mouth. Most likely it will be in its solid form so give it a few seconds in your mouth before it begins to melt. You can do this for as short as 10 minutes but I tend to go for the 20-minute range. To not waste any time I’ll pop some coconut oil into my mouth before going into the shower and as I’m taking a shower ill just swish it around my mouth. If I happened to take a quick shower I will keep doing it as I do my skincare routine.

One thing to remember is that when you are done make sure not to swallow the coconut oil because it’s picking up all of the leftover bacteria in your mouth and it’s not something you want to digest. Once you’re done swishing it around your mouth and you spit it out then boom, you are done!! I swear if you add oil pulling into your routine once a day for a week, the difference will be noticeable. Also, people believe it can help with gum diseases or infections and cavities so why not try it right?

Using this oil pulling method is such a great and natural way to get your teeth whitened. Whitening without causing any harm to your teeth is major so you can be at ease when using this method. Plus getting constant compliments on how white my teeth is, isn’t too bad either. Basically coconut oil pulling till the day I die!!!

Whats In My Carry-On Skincare Bag

I recently got back from my trip to Ecuador and I am already starting to plan for my next trips in these upcoming months. I am constantly wanting to explore new places throughout the world but sometimes the biggest issue is finding a travel buddy who’s available, you know? So getting everything organized from things to do, when to go, and what to pack is something I always like to get specific in.

Organization is key when it comes to packing, it just makes everything easier. I like to plan out outfits ahead of time, make sure I have all necessary accessories and self care items packed and ready to go. When it comes to my carry on I make sure that my backpack is as organized as possible making it easy to travel with. I always divide up everything on my carry on by using little makeup bags. An essential part is my plane ride skincare routine bag.

When I travel I do not like to wear makeup, especially on long trips. Sticking to my skincare routine is key for me during traveling so not wearing any makeup makes it easier. I want to avoid any breakouts possible, they’re just not a cute addition in any travel pictures. I’ve noticed that for me it’s all about keeping my skin clean and hydrated. I want to avoid any annoying, dry flaky patches or clogged pores from appearing. Lucky a 10+ step plan isn’t necessary for me, I simply use about 4 different products, all that easily can be travel size friendly.

So let’s start with keeping your skin fresh and clean. I always like to bring about 2-3 wipes in my carry on. What I do is pack the three wipes in a small sandwich bag which takes up a minimal amount of space. Then i’ll put some toner in a travel squeeze bottle or any other container that’s easy to use.  For toner, I will put a bit of the product on a cotton ball to wipe my face for that extra clean feeling. Toner helps with removing oil, dirt and more from your face so it is such an easy way to keep your skin feeling clean.

Here’s a tip, I never throw away any containers that I have from serums or any other product that uses a droplet. Using a droplet makes using any liquid product so much easier when flying on a plane. A lot of the products I use are not in a travel friendly sized so being able to fill the small container up is such a great way to bring what you need. Nothing is worse than having to throw out your favorite product when going through airport security.

After getting everything set and having a clean base, i’ll start moisturizing. Sheet masks are amazing for this and so easy to work with. I like for all of the products to be completely absorbed so depending on the type of sheet mask i’ll use this could take 30 minutes to an hour. Yes, it takes some time but trust me your skin will GLOW. Plus you’re on a plane so other than doing some work, watching tv or sleeping, there isn’t much to do. Why not maximize your time with some skin appreciation? I love the RATA & CO. New Zealand Naturals sheet masks because the amount of product that comes with each mask is amazing and so is its quality. Sheet masks product tend to have a water-like feel but this one is a bit thicker, giving you an even better-moisturized feel. The three that I have used and LOVED are the activated charcoal and manuka honey mask, the radiance boosting vitamin c mask, and the nourishing rosehip and raspberry oil mask. I would not recommend the activated charcoal for a plane ride simply because it does have a dark tint in the product. That means once your done with the mask you would have to wipe your face to remove the black left over product. A wipe will easily remove all remaining product but if you want to avoid that step, I would suggest sticking to the two other masks. This mask is great for fighting acne so I would definitely recommend bring it along your trip just in case you’re dealing with some breakouts!

I will usually use my jade roller when I have a sheet mask. This will help maximize the absorption of the product while giving you some lymphatic drainage. Goodbye puffy travel skin, hello tight sleek hydrated skin. If you’re feeling a bit awkward from using a sheet mask on the plane, honestly it’s not a big deal, your skin will thank you.

So once I’m done with the sheet mask and my skin is looking fresh i’ll go in with some moisturizer. I pack my St Ives Collagen Moisturizer and a little goes a long way with this one so I pack it in a small container. I use these cute tiny Clinique containers I got from Ulta for free. They have these for you to get samples of their products and have become so useful for traveling. They’re small and very durable so if you are ever at your local Ulta ask for a sample and take advantage of these babies.

For me, the key for traveling is to stick to this little routine. At times I may go in with my moisturizer maybe one to two more times depending on how long I’m on the plane for. In general adding some skin care routine in during traveling has helped me keep my skin looking clear and smooth. Like I have mentioned before its easy, efficient and effective.

It’s also important to mention that drinking water will make all the difference!!! I am always making sure that I am drinking plenty of water. Water is essential because of how much water your body looses on a flight. It’s estimated that women lose around 1.6 liters of water on a 10 hour flight and men lose 2 liters. Aka pass me two liters of water please!!!

Anyways, like always I’m very specific when it comes to skincare or anything else but always wanting to find improvement. If you have any recommendations for products to try let your girl know!!!

Kicking Up Your Hydration Game

Water, basically the number one thing people tell you to do if you want to improve anything. Clear skin? Every model with perfect baby-like skin will tell you to drink water. Lose weight? Everyone says to drink a literor a gallon of water. Its become the go-to advice which I feel like everyone is kind of tired of hearing. I’m not saying that drinking water isn’t a major partof being healthy in several different ways but we all know that usually, theperson is doing more than just drinking a cup of water.  The truth is that water is a large part ofbeing healthy but there are things you can add to your routine to make thebenefits even greater.

I love anything that helps with digestion because we are always trying to avoid any inflammation. I personally always preferred cold water but I started to read about why room temperature water just works better for your body. First of all room temp water is easier for your body to rehydrate with, which is the basic main goal when drinking water.  When drinking room temp or warm water it can help make digestion easier. Cold water can often make digesting fat in food more difficult making the digestive system slow down. Plus room temperature water is supposed to help speed up your metabolism which is always a plus.

Okay, so we got the room temp water set to go now this is the part where I will add all sorts of things. One thing I love is to add some organic pink Himalayan salt into my water. This method is also called Sole Water and is believed to bring good energy into your body. Sole water is a great way to add electrolytes into your day and prevent dehydration and maintaining a healthy level of fluid. Drinking salt water will also improve your body’s natural process of detoxification. When I add salt into my water I always make sure to use an organic pink Himalayan salt like this one from amazon.

Other than pink salt I love to add some pure potassium powder into my water. My favorite kind is this one i bought from amazon. It is completely flavorless and dissolves completely which is essential for me. I hate it when products don’t dissolve completely in my drink so this worked out great. Potassium is so important to have in your diet for so many reasons which you know I’m going to tell you all about. First it’s one of the most important minerals in the body and people often highly underestimates its importance. When you add it into your water it produces positively charged ions which is why it’s considered an electrolyte. Potassium also helps prevent water retention which means goodbye inflammation. It also helps regulate your fluid balance, nerve signals, and muscle contractions. Yes, potassium can be found in many foods but I love to add some extra into my water. So I generally drink all of my drinks from my favorite glass jar which is 24oz. every time I drink some I will add 1/4 of a teaspoon every time. I find that this amount is perfect and since I try to drink the whole jar of water about 5 times a day I make sure I’m not overdoing it with the potassium.

I also love putting freshly squeezed lemon into my water. Ifeel like everyone loves to add some lemon into their water for some extrahealth benefits and I am one of these people!!! That extra bit of vitamin c Ilove just for your general health especially your skin. Vitamin helps your skinstay glowy, young, and improves sun damage. Lemon water first thing in themorning also helps with digestion because it works as a cleans while keepingyou hydrated.  With the cleanse it helpsavoid any buildup of toxins which makes it easier for your body to digest.

Okay, the last thing I add is apple cider vinegar. It’s so good with healing your body with digestion while cleansing the body. Okay if you decide to try out the apple cider vinegar I strongly suggest using a straw!! You do not want to drink it straight because the acid can ruin your teeth which is not something we want. So I love apple cider vinegar on my salads but I’m not a huge fan of drinking it straight. I mix it with some water and a bit of salt when I sip on it. The salt kind of adds this boost on the sweetness that for me makes it a bit easier to drink. Apple cider vinegar is great if you have trouble digesting food and want to avoid any inflammation. It’s also linked to being something to help with weight loss. A lot of people claim that this helped them lose water weight, fat and even speed up your metabolism which are all great things so why not give it a shot right? If you know anything about apple cider vinegar you might now that they aren’t all the same. The most important thing is that it has what’s called “the mother” okay? This is where all the healthy stuff is at. When apple cider vinegar contains “the mother” it means that it also contains enzymes that are great for your digestion. A great option for apple cider vinegar is Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, 16 Fl Oz from amazon or you can buy it at your local grocery store.

Overall adding these little additions to your water can makea difference simply because you’re adding additional benefits to something youshould be doing every day. Something I love to do is mix lemon juice, pinksalt, and potassium into the water. Make one whole cleanse drink that tastesgood and can be a bit addicting. Their simple things to add and such an easyway to step up your health.

Let’s Talk About Collagen

Okay, I have to warn you guys, this post is going to be a bit long, but it’s only because of how amazing the thing I am going to talk about is!!! So stick with me through this long obsessive ramble about collagen. It’s the magical supplement making everyone healthier. Based on the science there are plenty of benefits that will make you realize that you should be adding it to your daily diet.

Here’s the deal though, there is a lot to finding the right brand and kind. I didn’t want to simply get the first one I found. Prices vary for collagen and I didn’t want to spend money on something that wouldn’t give me any type of benefit. So I did my usual research and started looking for the type I thought would work best for me. Before I get into the specifics on what to look for in the collagen, let’s talk about all the amazing benefits.

Taking a collagen supplement will help your body with its natural ability to produce collagen. That’s so important, especially since your body begins to decrease its ability to do so around the time you turn 25. Collagen plays a big roll in your skin, bones and general health.

You’ve probably heard about how amazing it is for your skin and one of the reasons is because collagen helps you with preventing wrinkles and dryness. People have found that after taking collagen the appearance of fine line or wrinkles fades. They also notice that their skin is a lot more hydrated. Collagen improves elasticity by promoting the production of proteins like elastin and fibrillin. That’s why it was a must for me because I love my anti-aging additions. Listen it is never too early to start preventing wrinkles!!

Let’s also talk about hair and nails because this baby helps that too. Collagen increases the strength of your hair and nails. That means your hair and nails won’t break as easily. They both will grow faster and look a lot healthier, something I noticed fast.

Collagen is amazing for your points, muscles, and bones. It helps relieve joint pain while lowering inflammation. Aka, better joint support and it prevents bone loss by adding more bone mineral density. The protein helps boost your muscle mass so you get a stronger and leaner look. That’s why I love to add some collagen in my post-workout breakfast shake.

Gut health is huge for me, which was what lead me into looking into collagen and its benefits. It turns out collagen is amazing for your gut health. Your gut needs to have a permeable barrier to work at its optimal level. Collagen is great for promoting better digestion by treating intestinal permeability. It’s supposed to help reduce bloating and other digestive related issues. That’s why it also helps with weight loss while also helping speed up your metabolism. Plus it even helps your liver and its detoxification function.

Now that I finished my obsessive ramble about how great collagen is I’m going to keep this next part simple for you guys and talk about the specifics. There are five different types of collagen but I’m going to stick to the main three. The first one is type 1 and it’s best for your nails, hair, and skin. Type 2 is best for your joints and anything related to bone-like pain. Type 3 is the second most important one for your skin hair and nails because it’s the second most abundant collagen in the human tissue.

Collagen is easy to find, you might even have products that contain collagen in your house right now. Some of those items can be things like meat, bone broth, gelatin, and more. You can also get collagen in a supplement form and you can purchase just about anywhere. I prefer to take collagen through a powder supplement just because I feel like you have more control on the type of college and the amount.

People recommend taking around 10,000 MGs (11g) to see results within 8 to 10 weeks. If you want to just maintain your collagen production and your health, its recommend taking 2500 to 5000 MGs.

There are two collagen supplements that I would recommend because of their quality and price. Both have amazing reviews and are not too pricy. The first one is this one off of Amazon. Then when I’m looking for collagen, I am looking for something that will target my skin and nails. You should also know that even though some collagen products are more designed towards things like the health of your skin and nails, it doesn’t mean that it won’t also help your bones and joints. All it depends on the combination of the types of collagen that we talked about before. This one from Amazon consists mostly of type one and type three.  The main reason I like making this for breakfast after my work out is because of the protein. One servings which is 11 g has 40 calories and 10 g of protein so that’s a pretty good amount to add for after my workout. Plus this specific supplement has 40 servings per container and is under $30. It’s also important to note that this brand of collagen is made from grass-fed animals, another great benefit. On Amazon, it has 2155 reviews and it’s a 4.7 out of five stars, amazing right? For my own experience, it works great with blending and it doesn’t have any taste.

So this next collagen is the one I’m going to get as soon as I run out of my current one. This collagen is made from Dr. Axel and it’s a multi collagen protein powder. That means it has all five types of collagen. This one has 45 servings per container but the servings are 10.2 g. Now because of this, it does mean that the calories are lower compared to the other one at 35 calories per serving but this also means that you get a lesser amount of protein. This one has 9 g of protein, which is still a great amount! Here’s the other thing, it is pricier than the one I mentioned from Amazon but since it has all five types of collagen you are getting even more benefits. This one is $44.95 and they offer a deal that if you sign up for their emails and get $10 off so, you’re saving a good amount from that. When comparing the price difference isn’t too much from Amazon so its worth the extra splurge. They also have an option where you subscribe to receive collagen every month and save 15% while getting free shipping! Great deal if you want to continuously use this one. I should also mention that this has over 9000 reviews and it’s rated 4 1/2 stars out of five so it’s a pretty promising product.

So do you guys get why I am so obsessed with collagen now? It’s the real deal guys and like who doesn’t want to feel healthier. You just have to try it out and let me know what products you use because I’m always up for recommendations. I want to make a clear that it takes time to get results, just like anything else that works. We don’t want to quick fix, we want long-lasting fixes that will help your body get to a healthier state. If you couldn’t tell by my blog, long-term wellness is what I’m all about. My goal is to become a healthier person in any way possible, mind, body, and soul. That’s what I want for you guys too.

My Little Obsession, Gua Sha

You know what I hate, waking up with a puffy look on your face. You know what I’m talking about? Like when you don’t get a good amount of sleep or you didn’t eat the healthiest the night before and it just shows through your face. When this is the case I just take an extra 5-10 minutes to take time to give myself a Gua Sha facial.

So let’s get into the details on what exactly is gua sha. It’s a facial massage using a small crystal stone tool. Giving yourself the massage will promote lymphatic drainage and releases congestion and toxicity, aka get rid of the puffiness. It also stimulates collagen, relaxes facial muscles, anti-aging, soothes eyes and skin and gives you a brighter healthier complexion and something you can do your self. Do you get why I’m all about this?

No my current gua sha tool that I used is this one and it’s for such a good price. It’s easy to use and gets the job done. Okay, so before getting started there are a few things to know.

  • Use a light touch, you don’t want to be too harsh and we don’t want to pull on the skin.
  • Make sure to always stroke upwards to avoid any sagging and aging problems. The only time that going downwards is okay is when you are moving the congestion and toxins from the lymphatic drainage from the sides of your face down to your lymphatic ducts by your color bones.
  • The goal is to take out the toxins and any congestion which is why you want to be aware of your lymphatic ducts on both sides to accomplish this.
  • Use oil to do the massage. Yes, you can use a moisturizer but and oil takes a bit longer for your skin to absorb so it makes it easier to scrape your face using the crystal tool.
  • Do 3-5 stokes on all areas but for your forehead, you can do even more.

Okay yes I know it sounds like a lot but I promise you it is not at all. To make your life a bit easier I have added a little chart down below showing you the steps. So by following the tips above start at scraping your face lightly in the first area with the number 1. Then follow through until the final step.

Gua sha is such a game-changer to the point where people call it the natural botox. With something so easy and so good for you (yes even for your whole body) I think everyone should just try it out. The benefits are endless and for basically anything. Try it out and get your glowy perfect skincare game on.

Skincare Haul

I love a good skincare routine and I love buying new products to add to my little skincare section in my bathroom. Since I love to learn about skincare I am always hearing about new products or what I should be adding into my skincare routine. This leads me to always do some online browsing. When it comes to skincare, I like to do my research first on the products or bands before making the actual purchase. I want to make sure that I’m getting a product that’s worth my money. Even though I’m up to experiment with new brands, I have to say that the brand that I always go back to is The Ordinary. I think everyone has heard of this brand, at least those who are always learning about skincare. I have talked about this brand and probably always will be because it’s that good. All the products I have bought from them so far have gone above and beyond my expectations. Finding a product that works and still being affordable is amazing. When I say affordable I truly mean it. Most of the products range from $5 – $9, that’s crazy low for skincare. The best part is that they don’t sacrifice quality for giving the client a lower price. What they do is save costs on things like marketing and packaging to give the consumer the best price possible. Since I know how great this brand is, I decided to buy a few more products from them recently. I thought that I would do a mini haul post to share with you guys what is the exact product I bought.

  • AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
    • Exfoliating isn’t only for getting smoother skin, there’s a tone of benefits from adding this simple step into your routine. Exfoliating helps clear pores, aka goodbye pimples. It’s also important for slowing down the again process while avoiding wrinkles. This product does all of that while also improving your skin texture and giving it a brighter more radiance skin. This is a 10-minute leave on exfoliating facial and something like this can usually cost a lot. This one only cost $7.20 and with all the amazing reviews, I had to buy one right away.
  • Lactic Acid 10% + HA
    • This product helps to exfoliate the skin while reducing signs of inflammations. That means that when using this product to exfoliate, you shouldn’t have any major redness. It’s supposed to help skin congestion while also getting rid of acne scarring. I love that this is a serum type exfoliator because then you have a more even exfoliation.
  • Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution
    • Toner is so important and I was interested to try this one out. This toner does a light exfoliation while helping improve your skin radiance and clarity. The website also states that it helps with skin texture. It’s supposed to be lightweight and help acne-prone skin, so perfect to use daily.
  • Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA
    • One of the main things I am aiming to fix is hyper-pigmentation on the skin and this is exactly what this product does. This product also helps reduce dark spots for an overall evener tone. There are so many great reviews on this product and how it helps balance the tone of their skin, I had to try it out.
  • Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%
    • This is one of The Ordinary’s most popular products. As soon as I got the email letting me know that it was back in stock, I purchased it right away. This product is supposed to be amazing for brightening your skin color. That means getting rid of hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and dark spots. It also works as an effective antioxidant making it great for all skin types. This product was sold out on The Ordinary website, Sephora and Ulta, so it has to be amazing right?
  • Caffeine Solution 5% +EGCE
    • Caffeine isn’t only useful for giving you more energy in the morning and it’s also great for your skin. This product is great to de-puff the face, its one of my favorite things to do. It reduces puffiness while also helping reduce the appearance of dark under-eye circles. When I stay up late my under-eyes get dark and puffy which is not a great look, so this is the perfect solution.

There it is guys, my mini skincare haul. The total for all of these products was a little bit over $40.00 including tax, which is pretty amazing! Since my purchase was over $25.00 I also got free shipping! Have you guys tried any products from the ordinary? Let me know!! Sending you all glowier and clearer skin vibes!!

Why I Love Using Coffee Grounds For My Skincare Routine

I love finding a new way to use natural ingredients in my beauty routine, for some reason it gets me excited. Finding alternatives to products with harsh chemicals and parables is just so much better for you. The best part is that usually there are simple alternatives, no need to be a DIY expert to get the results you want. That’s why I love using coffee grounds as a body scrub. Coffee grounds are simple and so effective that I prefer using it rather than other like sugar or salt.

First off, using coffee grounds as a scrub is easy. If you want you can use it plain or you can add something extra. Using something like coconut oil or olive oil is a great option for adding an extra moisturizing property. I do have to admit that it can get a bit messy so, I would recommend doing it in the shower. It’s so much easier this way.

Using a coffee scrub can also give you some amazing health benefits. It’s gentle on your skin, which means that it’s a great option for your exfoliation routine. It’s effective for removing all of the dead cells of your skin leaving your smooth. Exfoliation helps you achieve a more even skin texture so it’s great to get rid of those little annoying random bumps.

The caffeine from the coffee grounds is also a great way to decrease inflammation by promoting blood flow. That means it’s a great way to do some lymphatic draining at home. Anything that helps with lymphatic draining is something I add to my self-care routine. When you incorporate lymphatic draining into your self-care routine you are helping your body get rid of the toxins your body holds. Plus, coffee is a great antioxidant for your skin.

Caffeine is an effective way to reduce the appearance of cellulite.  How it works is that when you use the coffee, the caffeine helps stimulates dilation from the cellulite. With the caffeine increasing circulation, it will make the skin a little bit more plumped making cellulite a bit less obvious. Because the results last temporarily using it weekly can help you achieve longer results.  Obviously to completely get rid of cellulite working out and having a healthy diet will be the most effective but this is a great addition to the process.

Let’s talk about stretch marks because this is also a great option for that. The exfoliation will help take off the dead skin cells from your body to help your stretch marks fade but there is also a bit more to it. Caffeine is something that helps improve collagen production. Collagen is one of the most important things for keeping your skin looking young and healthier. Collagen will help lighten your skin while also tightening it. With both the lightning and tightening process in effect, it will help fade your stretch marks.

Listen, I want to make it clear that stretch marks and cellulite is nothing you need to be working on getting rid of. I love mine; they’re like my own personal tiger stripes. Like how cute is that right? Same thing for cellulite, its apart of your beauty, not a fault. Just like everything else when it comes to self-care, coffee ground is a great thing to add for some extra benefits. The main goal is to do something for yourself because you deserve it. It’s not about trying to look better to fit into society’s beauty standards. It is about doing something for yourself because you love yourself. Nothing looks better than confidence babe.

Clothing Haul

Online shopping is one of my favorite things. It’s saves time and I can stay home, with a face mask, drinking some tea while getting my retail therapy done. Also love the fact that they offer free shipping and returns. That being said recently I did some shopping and I thought that I would share some of my favorite purchases.

NAKD:

The first thing I bought was this Wrap Mini Dress. This summer I got really into this light sea green color and this dress matched that aesthetic perfectly. Honestly, I love wrap dresses. I feel like they look so good with any body type, they make the waist look snacked and the v neck shows off your girls that we always love.

The next dress I bought followed the sea-green aesthetic. This Puff Sleeve Mini Dress surprised me on how much I liked the dress. It has that boho vibe but has such a great shape to maintain a flattering form while being so comfy. Seriously, the material is so soft and slight, perfect for summer.

Nasty Gal

If you haven’t noticed, Dalmatian print midi skirts are very chic and very on trend right now. I found this really cute Dalmatian Wrap Skirt and for such a good price that I had to buy it. It fits flattering and I love that it has this slit on the side since it’s a wrap skirt, giving it that extra touch of chic.

ZARA

Cold weather is almost here which means I needed some jeans. I wanted something different and loved these Wide Leg Jeans in the color Gray. I love the straight high waisted look they give and the color is amazing. Plus it’s a bit distressed on the end adding a bit of a biker look that I love. I’m not really feeling the skinny jean look this year so this was perfect. Just note that these are actually quite long, with heels they will look fine but wearing shoes with no height might be an issues. At least it was for me and I’m 5’6.

Next up I bought these Ripped Mom Fit Jeans in the color Blue. I love some light distressed looks so this was perfect while not overdoing it. Maybe it’s just me but these actually fit just below my ankles so its perfect to wear down or fold them a bit. Just perfect for a classic white tee, leather jacket, and jeans look.

Princess Polly

For some reason I couldn’t find a sweater I liked for a while so I was excited when I found one online at Princess Polly. The one I got was the Winter Wonder Knit Jumper in the color Black and White.  I’ve always loved the oversized look and this went perfectly with it. This sweater gives a slight oversized look without looking too big you know? I love to wear it off shoulder on one side. It’s comfy, soft and not too long so easy to wear with anything. I just love feeling comfy when I’m out while looking put together, that’s the goal.

Then I got something a bit different than what I would usually get but I thought why not just go for it. I got this Vans City Slicker Bucket Hat. Since it was on sale they don’t have it anymore but a photo of it is in the blog photo above. If I find it I will make sure to attach a link to it!! Anyways, the hat was different than my usual style so I was surprised on how much I loved it. I love adding a sporty masculine touch to my outfits and I felt like this would be such an easy addition to achieve that. Plus the black and white colors make it easy to wear with just about anything.

I have wanted a midi skirt for a while and love the Motel Saika Skirt Rust I found on Princess Polly. I loved how the model wore it in the pictures giving off that biker chic look and I loved the long slit it has. I feel like this is such an easy piece to wear casually or to dress it up with some heals.

Pretty Little Things

So I actually ordered 5 things from here and only kept two. I feel like PTL can be risky at times but luckily I actually really liked two of the items. First off was this Sand Ultimate Oversized Hoodie. I wanted a neutral color oversized hoodie that I could wear with anything and this one worked out great. I did get a size medium because I wanted it to be longer but honestly I think a size small would have looked great. I still like the medium one so I decided to keep it.

Then I got the Washed Black Raw Hem Mom Shorts. I like these but I don’t love them. I got them for $14.00 because there was a sale so that was nice but obviously for the price, the quality isn’t the best. Plus I wish they were a bit darker. I feel like in the photo the color looks more even through out the fabric than they actually are in person. They do look cute on and they’re really fitting for the biker shorts trend so I’m pretty happy with them.

Mango

So I bought the cutest bag every from here, I’m obsessed and I cant wait to wear it. I bought the Mini Croc-effect Bag in Pastel Yellow and it is so much cuter in person. I have been looking for a tiny bag like this and its perfect. I can actually fit a few things in it so it’s actually useful too. Also I’ve loved the color yellow lately but haven’t found anything that I would want to wear so this was the perfect thing to add to my outfits.

Nordstrom

I have wanted a pair of heals that are tiny making it a lot easier to wear out all day. I want something that’s comfy and chic so I was so excited when I found these Calvin Klein Monty Thong Sandals. I. AM. SO. IN. LOVE!!! First of all, they will literally go with anything!! Biker shorts and an oversized hoodie? YES!! Jeans and a t-shirt? Yes honey!! Little black dress for a night out? I MEAN DUH!? You guys these are currently my favorite shoes and they are the cutest thing ever.

So out of all of the clothes I ordered these were the ones I decided to keep and I love them. They’re all exactly what I was hoping for and I can’t wait to wear them all like 100 times.

Getting Smooth and Hydrated Skin

I like to have routines for a lot of things. I like to be specific and have certain things organized and then other parts of my life are a big mess.  But one of the things I get really specific in is my skincare.

Smooth moisturized skin is like my favorite thing, like we do not want to be having a dry moment in life. I find that the best way to achieve this is to stick to a specific routine. Doing a skincare routine pre and post-shower is the best time simply because your skin will absorb the most amount of product than any other time of the day.

There are two steps, really simple and really easy. First step before you get into the shower you would want to start dry brushing. Dry brushing is exactly what it sounds like and so good for you. First off its great for exfoliation and getting rid of dry skin. It also prevents ingrown hair and unclogs pores meaning your newly shaved legs will look killer. Dry brushing is also great for lymphatic draining and increases blood flow which I love!!!  You want to use a natural bristled brush and start from your feet brushing upwards towards your heart. One brush that I love is this one from amazon. In the torso and back section, you would want to do circular motions. Make sure to be gentle when you first start, you don’t want to harm your skin. After you’re down with your whole body step into the shower and wash off the dead skin.

After I’m done taking a shower I drench myself in Organic Cold Press Coconut oil. I always prefer an oil than a body lotion because of all the toxic chemicals that are so often found in body lotions. Things like parables, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (honestly just with the extra-long name like that you know something isn’t right) artificial fragrances, artificial coloring and more. Coconut oil is simple and it gets the job done. Plus you get a post glow that you don’t get from other products.

So let’s get into why coconut oil is so worth the hype for your skin. Coconut oil has properties that can kill bacteria and can reduce inflammation. Some even claim that it helps treat acne which is always a great bonus. Although coconut oil is great for keeping your skin hydrated you may want to be cautious of using it as a face moisturizer. I used to use it as a moisturizer but it caused my face to get a bit flakey, so I would make sure to watch out for that when it comes to your face. Other than that I haven’t had any problems with it and I am living my best-moisturized body life. Happy glowy girl right here.

Why I Love Podcasts & My Favorites

I am a big believer in finding ways to gain new knowledge and bringing new value into your life. I am someone who did not want to go to college because I felt that it wasn’t right for me. I also believe that having a four-year paid education and a degree isn’t always necessary in life. I started my own company when I was 16 years old. One of the things that made that possible was finding free resources to gain knowledge in starting a business. Today it’s been 4 years since I first started my business and it’s still running strong. I think people have this idea that without a college education you cannot achieve a specific level of success. If you take the time to look, you will find out that many of the most successful people in the world today did not complete college and some never completed high school. If you’re someone who can’t afford education or if you’re like me and knows that college isn’t for you it doesn’t mean you can’t build yourself an independent and successful life. The key isn’t getting a standard college education. The key is to find a way to continue on your education every day in any way on a subject that you love. Then you put in the effort to apply this new knowledge to your life. Just like Julian Hall said, Knowledge is useless without consistent application.

The best part is that there are so many different platforms and resources on finding new ways to educate your self on any subject. I am constantly looking for new resources that educate me and bring me some type of value. One of my favorites is listening to podcasts.

I love listening to podcasts because it’s such an easy thing to add to your day. I tend to listen to podcasts while in the car, at the gym, or while I’m working. It doesn’t take up any of my time, which is such an amazing part of it. You are hearing stories and learning things from people who are in the industry or related to the subject you are interested in. My favorite topics are business, health, beauty, fashion, and mindset related. That’s what so great about podcasts because there are some for just about any subject.
